Workers for Agrotechnology Industry

Applications can be submitted to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for foreign managers, executives, specialists/entrepreneurs, unskilled/skilled workers to work in the farms in Singapore. More information on how you could obtain an Employment Pass, Short-Term Employment Pass, Training Visit Pass, Entry Pass (for entrepreneurs), and other passes and work permits for your farm workers can be found in MOM’s website at http://www.mom.gov.sg.

The MOM has also worked out a scheme with AVA to allow the agritechnology farms to employ workers from the following countries:

Source Countries

 

  • Traditional Source (TS) – Malaysia
  • North Asian Sources (NAS) – South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan
  • Non-Traditional Sources (NTS) – Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, PRC, Sri Lanka, Thailand

The revised Work Permit Scheme For Agritechnology Industry will be implemented from 1st July 2007 onwards. The scheme is open to foreign workers from the above-mentioned source countries. Agritechnology farms interested in employing foreign workers may submit their applications to AVA for consideration.





Requirements for the Work Permit Scheme for Agritechnology Industry

Farms applying for inclusion in the Scheme must meet the following criteria: 

  • Farms are licensed by AVA and must operated as sole-proprietorship / partnership business firms or companies or as limited liability partnership;
  • Farming companies must have a CPF account under the “Agritechnology Sector”
  • Farms with good farm management practice;
  • Farms employing modern farming technology;
  • Farms where farming process are automated where possible;
  • Farms which optimize use of land for farming
  • Farms must provide proper accommodation for workers; and
  • Farms are required to undertake to adhere to the conditions of the Scheme and Work Permit Policies.

 

Under the Scheme, the foreign workers must meet the following requirements

  • Male workers below the age of 50
  • Allowed to work strictly in field of farming jobs as described in Work Permit
  • Any other criteria as required by MOM for employment of foreign workers.

Qualification for Inclusion into Scheme 

  • Farms that currently employs NTS workers under the old scheme, qualify.
  • For farms that have not employed NTS workers before and wish to apply for foreign workers is required to complete an application form (Ref Code: FM003).
