Table hen eggs and poultry broilers (live) exported to Singapore can only come from sources approved by AVA.
In order for a country to be approved to export table hen eggs and poultry broilers to Singapore, the following is required for AVA's consideration:
- The set up and organisational structure of the veterinary services;
- The poultry disease situation and the national programmes for control and prevention of such diseases;
- Copy of the legislation (or excerpt in English is required if the legislation is not in English) to control and prevent the introduction of poultry diseases in the country;
- Copy of legislation governing poultry farms and storage, handling and distribution of eggs;
- Licensing authority and licensing system of approved farms;
- National microbiological and residue control programmes on eggs and poultry meat.
- National Salmonella Enteritidis Control Programme. The poultry farms for export should be free of Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) and are not practising vaccination as a means of control against SE.
Application from export poultry layer and broiler farms would only be considered after the exporting country has been approved for export to Singapore. All applications would have to be submitted through the competent veterinary authority of the exporting country and the following information would be required from the farm(s) for assessment:
- Name, address and location of the farm;
- Population of poultry, breed and estimated production per month;
- Type of housing (open sided bird-proofing, closed house systems), water and feed sources;
- Sanitation and biosecurity of the farm, such as perimeter fencing, access to personnel, separation between production and administration areas;
- Hygiene such as disinfection procedures, the disinfectant used and frequency of disinfection;
- Management practice, especially relating to the movement of day old chicks, manure and feed, the handling and sorting of eggs, pest control programmes, types of records and system of record keeping;
- Disease surveillance programmes, especially surveillance programme for Salmonella Enteritidis (SE). The farm must implement a programme which is approved by the competent authority for the surveillance of SE;
- Drug usage and vaccination programme;
- Photographs and layout plan of the farm.
