Salted/Preserved eggs refer to products such as salted duck eggs/quail eggs and century eggs.
Processed egg products refer to products such as hard-boiled eggs, "Lu Dan", pasteurized liquid eggs, dried egg powders and omelettes.
The import of salted/preserved eggs for food is regulated by Animal and Birds Act. Imports must meet the following requirements:
- Traders are required to apply for a Central Registration Number from Singapore Customs and also be registered with AVA.
- An import permit issued by AVA is also required for every consignment of salted/preserved eggs.
- Importers are required to apply for a Central Registration Number from Singapore Customs and also be registered with AVA.
- An import permit issued by AVA is also required for every consignment of processed egg product.
- Processed eggs may only be imported from accreditated sources.
- Each consignment must be accompanied by a Health Certificate issued by veterinary authority of the exporting country, certifying that Singapore's animal health and food safety requirements have been complied with.
- If importer is importing the processed/cooked eggs from a new source which has not been accredited, applicants are required to submit the Application Forms for Foreign Meat and Egg Processing Establishments Seeking Accreditation to Export and the following documents to seek accreditation to export:
- licence of processing plant issued by the Authority in the country of origin
- photos of the processing plant
- photos of the equipment used in the plant
- HACCP certification (or its equivalent) of the plant
You will need to apply for an AVA import permit by declaring the import through the Tradenet. For product codes for declaration, click here. Supporting documents like bill of lading, air waybills and invoices should be faxed in to AVA when applying for a permit.
The fee payable for the import of salted/preserved eggs is S$62 per consignment. The fee payable for the import of processed egg products is S$22 per consignment. Payment will be deducted through the applicant's GIRO account (for a GIRO application form click here).
- An export permit issued by AVA is required for every consignment of salted/preserved egg products.
- Please apply for an AVA export permit by declaring through the Tradenet. For product codes for declaration, click here.
The fee payable for the export of salted/preserved egg products is S$62 per consignment. The fee payable for the export of processed egg products is S$3 per consignment. Payment will be deducted through the applicant's GIRO account (for a GIRO application form click here).
For the transshipment of salted/preserved eggs or processed egg products, a permit issued by AVA is required. The trader is also required to be registered with AVA. The trader can apply for an AVA transshipment permit by declaring through TradeNet. For the product codes for the declaration, click here.
The fee payable for the transshipment of salted/preserved egg products is S$62 per consignment. The fee payable for the transshipment of processed egg products is S$20 per consignment. Payment will be deducted through the applicant's GIRO account (for a GIRO application form click here).
