Import permit not required
The import of the following does not require an AVA import permit if the amount of import falls within the personal allowances listed below. Please note that for CITES-listed species, you are still required to apply for a CITES permit before import. Imports of quantities exceeding the personal allowances will require an AVA import permit.

The above allowances are for baggage of travellers only and are not applicable to items shipped by cargo.

Combinations of the above may be imported by travellers but the total quantity must not exceed 5kg and the quantity of each item must be within the respective stated limit.

Note:
- An application for import permit must be obtained from the AVA prior to the import. The import permit fee is $3.50 per consignment.
- Any quantity exceeding the above would require a licence to import or export ornamental fish from the AVA.
The guidelines above apply to species allowed for importation under Singapore laws. If you are not sure if the species you will be bringing is allowed or require CITES permits, it is always advisable to clarify with the AVA before importation. When in doubt, please declare your items to the ICA officers. Travellers can contact AVA for further information.
