Suspension of Sale of Fish from Fish Farms Remains

  1. Up to 7 Aug 2000, Agri-food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) has detected traces of phenol at 9 parts per billion (ppb) in the guts of the fish sampled although no phenol has been detected in the fish meat.

  2. As a precautionary measure, AVA will continue to suspend the harvesting and sale of all fish from the 25 fish farms located in the area affected by the chemical spill. These fish farms are located in the coastal waters of the Johor Straits in the Pulau Ubin and Loyang areas.
