- The Ministry of the Environment (ENV) is continuing with the monitoring of the waters of the Straits of Johor off Pulau Ubin and the main island of Singapore while AVA will continue to monitor the water and fish in the fish farms in the Pulau Ubin and Serangoon coastal areas.
- ENV is also in contact with the Department of Environment, Johore (DOE(J)) to closely monitor the progress of the salvage operations on the capsized phenol tanker in Malaysian waters. According to DOE (J), the salvage operation will begin soon.
- As a precaution, the public is advised not to swim or come into contact with the seawaters in the coastal areas of Pulau Ubin, Pasir Ris, Punggol and Changi. This is because there may be a risk of more phenol being released during the salvage operations. ENV will lift the ban on fishing, and other water-related activities in the area when it is satisfied that the waters are safe for such recreational activities.
- AVA will only lift the prohibition on the harvesting and sale of fish from the 37 floating fish farms when the fish has been found to be safe for consumption.
